The “brood”: sunédrion, the pharisee, and the scribe (yikes).
Writers are often deemed as scribes (and all too-often are simply that); so for the purpose of this sojourn, I will try and “rise above” the lowly journalist, log-keeper…scribe.
If you’ll take a moment to remember back during the days of the election of President Obama, there were so many comparisons made to a savior figure.
Logos is defined as the divine word of God Himself…the truth, the way and the light – the absolute stopping point for the buck.
In our earthly realm, it was a “brood of vipers” who brought “justice” on our Lord and Savior through an ethereal form of logos.
They twisted the law, and to coin a Southern colloquialism “whooped up the crowds” into a frenzied state.
To twist the law requires the use of logic, but more a warped sort of logic of the kind practiced by Sophocles (in the form of sophistry).
Sophistry is the art of making plausible, yet fallacious, argumentation.
One example of such logic might be where the Sanhedrin make the claim that Christ should be executed as the result of his “blasphemy” in claiming to “be” God — something that is not, and can not be documented.
What Christ claimed to be was the “son” of God.
The Sanhedrin were able to take one point and essentially incite a crowd to riot through the thin logic and theatrics (rending their clothes, taking on a boisterous aire of righteous indignation).
They brought a man to his death through a twisting of the truth.
Or how about these examples;
“Can a state university’s law review expand its affirmative action program to include special treatment for gay students as well as racial minorities? Does a man have any right to stop his ex-wife from using their frozen embryos to try to get pregnant? Can parents whose daughter is in a vegetative state be prohibited from trying to clone her?”,
“…should “Splitsville,” a city plagued by residential segregation and failing schools, be permitted to create an all black, all-male career academy, or is the “Ujamaa School” unlawful discrimination?”,
“…one 2003 question describes the state of “Nirvana,” where a gay couple, Richard and Michael, want a child. Would Nirvana’s laws prohibiting gays from paying surrogate mothers or adopting children,” it was asked, “violate the constitutional guarantees of equal protection and due process?”.
These “hotbutton” issues are designed as legal constructs for first recognizing that there is an issue for which the law “may” apply.
Once the issue is recognized, the leap in logic then looks for a law that may apply.
For example, suppose a law that was implemented for a specific purpose, say, a rule that was designed to protect against discrimination based on race, creed or color – would it be logical to then to “stretch” that law to include perhaps gender, or choice of reproductive partner?
The issue for me personally is that God’s laws defined precisely how one would go about producing a child. Birds know it, bees know it, and with the advent of the internet, so does just about everybody else.
In producing that child, you become that child’s Mother of Father.
Pretty obvious law from my perspective.
Reminds me of those who believe they are above laws of physics and could cheat gravity, or somehow grow wings where their arms are supposed to be – kind of delusional, methinks.
So, there is a sophistry that takes place…a “bending” of the law.
Jesus Christ claims to be the son of God, so let’s just stretch that a little and say that he claims to be God Himself.
Where I come from there is a concept called “brass tacks” (or “getting down to brass tacks”).
It is debated about the origin of the concept, but one definition has to do with manila folders used in early days of education, where the papers in these folders were held in place by “brass” tacks that were placed through holes in the papers and then the legs of the tack were bent back to hold the papers in place.
Placing one’s work in such a folder, the brass tack was sort of the final step…it symbolized this completion of the job, and tying all the work together within the folder.
“Getting down to brass tacks,” represented getting down to the essence…the final verse, the last step.
When Christ speaks of God’s law, He speaks of something incontrovertible. It is that final word, that “brass tack”.
There is no ambiguity, no wiggle room, no sophistry, no vascillation.
I believe that a pale image of this should always be our goal on this side of heaven; to emulate His perfection, His grace, and the elegant absolutes of His Logos.
We should always try and stick to the brass tacks.
In the world of manufacturing and production, it is a widely-known rule that one should always use a tool for, and only for, its intended purpose.
Do not use a screwdriver as a punch, or a wrench as a hammer.
Everything has its intended purpose, and its intended use.
I think the same concept should be applied to both the law, and the truth.
If a law was designated for one purpose, use it for that purpose (don’t stretch it so that it “fits” other “issues”).
If a new law is required, try and make it. Free country.
Oh, and by the way, I also believe in the concept of keeping an eye on history so one can better understand the present, as well as the future.
The examples used in the offset quotes above were all taken from President Obama’s take-home, open-book, law exams that he administered as a Professor teaching constitutional law at the University of Chicago (click here for the article, and take note of the date; it was written during the Presidential campaign, and before Obama was elected).
“Where have all the jobs gone,
long time passing.
Where have all the corporations gone,
long time away.
Where have all the oil wells gone…
gone to collectivist graveyards, every one.
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?”
I am a proud, Freemason.
I am the Master of my Lodge, for this year, Year of Our Lord, 2010.
Each and every time I attend our stated meetings, since my induction into our humble Lodge (Prudentia, No. 719 – fifteen LONG years ago), I have pledged allegiance to our Nation (One, Under God).
And each time I recite my pledge, I take special note (and privilege) of one, one very special, sixteenth-of-an-inch.
Freemasonry (and its perfection, it is said) can only be attained through degrees.
I have always taken special note, and pride, of a singular, sixteenth-of-an-inch.
The flag to which we pledge, the stars and stripes of our humble Nation, hangs opposite the Christian flag in our Lodge. It hangs singular against a pole, and is “furled” straight to ward the ground below.
Its seven, red- and six, white- stripes, and fifty-white stars in constellation set upon a blue (not the dark of night, nor the light of day, but the dawn of day-break or the dusk, of evening-tide) background all hold special, historic and dear significance to each of us who know its history (and more-especially, have not forgotten).
It is mounted to a pole, and hangs -regally straight- a full, one sixteenth of an inch from Mother Earth at the tip of her terminal corner.
Each and ever time I recite my pledge to my Nation (at least once per month), I take special note of that one, singular, sixteenth-of-an-inch.
I have been a Freemason for going on, some odd, fifteen years (or there-about).
I have pledged to that flag, once-per-month at each and every of our stated meetings (save for a couple of Presidential elections that have taken precedence for me over our stated, Tuesday-night meetings).
I have been regular in my attendance, and regular in my pledge to my Nation.
I have also taken regular note of that sixteenth-of-an-inch.
I would stop the world of Freemasonry were that flag ever to contact Mother Earth.
She hangs there, for some fifteen years that I have observed, and none (not one) of her fibers have ever loosened so as to allow her grace to commingle with the earthen filth.
Each time I take upon myself my pledge, I take note of that scant distance between her grace, and the filth of the ground.
I am reminded of that which separates both heaven, and earth.
It is a small chasm that separates her; but it is an eternal distance for the vigilant who in heart know of that which awaits the steadfast !
Our Nation, today, stands in that crux…that scant distance that separates grace, from ruin.
I believe, with all my heart, that with this same concept of equal regularity, that this distance does not have to “change”.
You know, change can have negative connotation (especially in context of our flag’s proximity to the ground, and the profundity this entails for a metaphor for the whole).
I believe that this is borne out in current event.
It is up to us, as stalwarts of our precepts, our guiding principles, and our mortal (and immortal) integrity, to stand guard against her grace being dragged through this pit of mire, and of mud.
It is my prayer that November will make all the difference in world, for all the World.
Grace, is a funny thing.
You will find it in the most, odd, of places.
China has shown us grace today.
They have shown us that they still have confidence in us, in spite of a lack of confidence that we have in ourselves (and most-especially, our current “leadership”).
The Union of Soviet Socialists have offered a gift of olive leaf in the form of a spy “exchange” (still not certain that the offer is full of salty savor, but it is a nice gesture, none-the-less, even when Bill Clinton’s arse hangs in that delicate balance).
From these two “world powers”, I believe there is immense significance for today’s events.
Perhaps only one-sixteenth-of-an-inch in worth, but oh what that meager distance can mean.
The world wishes to survive this massive and horrendous financial failure that has taken place due to what I believe is a lack of diligence in keeping a steadfast eye on that meager sixteenth.
It is only that sixteenth that separates us from the dyed-in-the-wool socialist.
It is “high” time for us to work together with this world to unite against a common enemy – that of world-wide financial depression.
The knee-jerk reaction to the onslaught of financial depression is far-too-often today that of continued strife and horrendously burdensome taxation, and of bloodshed, and of War (turn an eye to Europe for reference).
We can avert that fate!
It is time to come to terms with this world-wide depression, and face it with the economic precepts that have brought down a wall, and turned China into a financial power-house.
It is time to embrace the concept of capital., yet again.
We must abandon the radical hippie and His mind-set.
We must deal with the world through sound financial concepts (capitalist concepts) that have not only made our Nation great (in the not-so-recent past (Reagan, Bush and Bush), and in a 200-year track record preceding them), but has also born first fruit to the formerly, socialist world (that of China, and in part, the Soviets).
We must demonstrate to the world our confidence not only in our own tried-and-true capitalist philosophy, but also to those that have been borne out in both Russia and in China are maintained.
We must embrace that sixteenth-of-an-inch. We must be vigilant in maintaining it with exacting regularity, and we must demonstrate that we are “in” for the long haul.
We must also make one helluva severe “change” come this November.
The Preicipii calls upon this Nation to commit to a change that will bring us “back to the future”; we must abandon our recent divergence from our tried, and true principles, and re-embrace those to which China now expects us to maintain proper deference, both for their livelihood, and for that of the World-at-large.
It is incumbent, imperative really, that we maintain our vigilance in keeping those fibers of Red, White and Blue from ever reaching that chasm of muck and mire that our Mother Earth represents, along with the Utopian, Socialist lovers of the earthly realm .
Come November, we must see POSITIVE change (for a change).
May the Republican party, in a glory that is manifest in our great symbol of Freedom, in our Nation’s flag…may it once again place that flag in its position of both authority, and of sound, ethical and solid, capitalist ideology, and maintained ever-vigilant in that razor’s edge, one-sixteenth-of-an-inch.
I believe that the World must stop and ensure that this meager, singular, one-sixteenth-of-an-inch be forever and a day, maintained.
And I believe that We the People will only achieve that through the grace of our Lord, and through our incipient knack for eternally maintaining that one-sixteenth that separates us from utter chaos, annihilation, and ruin – in short, Obamanation.
Come November, vote Republican, and VOTE OFTEN !
When one thinks of the human psyche, the same, trite concepts will penultimately boil to the surface.
But as the chess player, one must (to advance) think beyond the next move.
Certainly, it would be fallacy to then discount all prior moves on the board; for they directly led to the position the player now holds.
So, without forgetting the concepts of sex, food, greed, self-aggrandization, lust, pain, fear, sorrow, love, and the like as primary motivators (for they, among many other motives, truly did bring each of us to the place on the world’s chessboard where we now stand) – what would be he next move?
If we are the product of compendium of past, then what would be a motivator that rises above the frey? Above those trite (and so obvious) motivators to all of human nature?
Consider the plight America finds itself in today.
So what would be the “anti-motive” ?
In other words, what would, literally, be the ticket to waking everyone up and having them say in resounding chorus “I’ve been down this before, I know what you are doing, and I want something more?”.
What is the “something” more?
Think about this, seriously.
The unions have been promised power (and they are clutching at it with their last breaths – they are almost as strong as the gay-psoriatic-lemurs who suffer from a combination of mad-cow disease and syphillis voting block – sorry, but it is the best I could come up with for an extreme minority).
Enough about the unions.
However, let us focus on their motivation.
Obama has promised them the moon, and he is delivering.
Like the mad cry of Samuel Gompers “More, More, More”…like voracious hatchlings in a tangled and twisted bird’s nest, they will never be satiated.
They will literally take the food from one another’s belly.
They are this corrupt.
But is it mere survival that motivates them? Is it an irrepressive slant toward laziness and having someone else serve their every whim, their every need?
They will not get a biscuit from me, and I would counter that, just perhaps, they crave more than what meets the eye.
They do want self-esteem (and that kind not garnered from blade, bullet or baton) – they wish they could be what others have become through hard work.
They really do desire what all men and women desire – to “better” themselves (they just seem to always seek it through cloak-room, dirty dealing).
To get it as the result of some contract with the devil – there is no esteem in this.
Man’s final motivation, I would argue, is to live up to that which he was created for.
To make his Master happy.
In order to move to the next, best strategic position on this chessboard politic, it is not the usual suspects to which we consevatives need to appeal…it is the suspect to which we far often never (or at best, rarely) appeal.
Our leaders in the Republican-Tea Party should unite under one banner, one mantra, one platform.
“ONE PARTY, UNDER GOD” – Let us all unite and do, what the really, really BIG guy would have us to do.
I know that I do.
I know I said I’d not get personal in this column, but the fact is, this is an opinion-based blog. Its mission as a rag is to be driven to (vainly) be humorous, at times, but always to be driven to try and be published in a manner that displays at least “something” about the most significant news story(or stories) of the past week.
Now, this is NOT my day job, and in no way pays my bills. Now that I’m working long, long hours, I basically only have the weekends to “opine”.
So, the column is taking a new “flave” for a bit…”wrap-ups” (and what a week to begin them, huh? ref the pic above, hee, hee).
Enough already about “wrap-ups” (beginning to make me feel like some people are wrapped just a little too tight).
But, what an irony, huh?
Our Commander-in-Thief is constraining us with health care, robbing us of our inherited wealth (and then re-distributing it to people who should inherit only the, let’s see, how does it go? “inherit the wind, but reap the whirlwind” ??? – remember “God moves in a wind storm”, and this is how both Noah and Moses remembered the “harkening” of His divine presence…but, that’s another story, ENTIRELY), and generally “mucking things up”.
And now we have to be jap-slapped with this hoo-ha about “America (sic, WOMEN) being constrained”.
Let’s see, what about these people where “constraints” are concerned?
So, “what of it“, you might ask?
Well, “let me tell ya” (it is, as I’ve so many times stated, an opinion column, after-all) –
when people forget what happens when humans begin yielding to their nasty, human nature, baaaaaad thangs start to happen, that’s what!
Real, real bad.
For the first time, I think, Madame Pelosi’s sense and sensibility is beginning to serve her (it remains to be seen whether she will demonstrate some personal responsibility).
But the point is, she is beginning to sense that the world is becoming an extremely “constrained” place (as IF, EVERYONE…did not already perceive that tid-bit – the internet is, after all, making it a smaller and smaller place (let’s all get “small”, eh, Steve-a-reeno“?).
Well, I guess I should say, everyone, who remembers history (and histoi in the making).
The most disturbing thing, for me, about the vid of the Madame, is not her tears (of/for fear? yuck, yuck), but rather, that one, singularly-“prickly”, statement … “the ears that it is falling on…are not as balanced“as those making the statements”.
Well, I guess balanced is, as balanced do.
I walked down to the lower 40 (probably about 40, square centimeters) to pick some tomatoes for my morning breakfast and noted the withering vine.
Of course, in part, it is owed to the time of year (although of the last several years I have been known to pick them Christmas day), but in most part, as are all things from the world of agrarian production, they are wholly (well, it would seem) dependent on the weather.
This global warming is of little concern to me this year, but everyone I know is talking of the incredible amount of rainfall we’ve encountered (in particular where it has affected our tomato crops – for we hillbilly’s LOVES our ‘maters).
Well, the lower, back-yard sits on what is known in some collective, socialist, root-kissing circles (root-kissers are the next evolution for tree-huggers) as a “blue waterway”.
Now, I’ve been here going on five years now, and normally the blue waterway is nothing more than dried clay. We have a wet year, and it becomes a mix of creek and swamp.
So, as you can see, too much water and the next thing I know my tomato crop is halved and my cypress trees begin to die.
It’s a soggy, boggy…suck! (like a root-kisser).
You pray for water as a farmer, but you don’t want to over-do your prayers.
Too much of a good thing.
A metaphor for the hedonistic yet morbidly vapid approach the spendthrift Dems take in “running” our great Nation (to its knees, actually) – a fruit that withers on the vine due to excess hydration is a prime example of “too much” liberal, socialist policy.
You wind up with rotten tomatoes.
I think the same principle applies to governing (in fact, all things farming are a form of governing; remember the terminology in its “exact” interpretation – to govern, after all, is to limit (as in a governor on an engine)).
in farming, you always want just the right mix of everything. This is the recipe for success.
Too much fertilizer and you burn the plants.
Too much water and they rot from the root up.
Too much sun…you get the picture.
I think we’ve had too much Obamanation, personally.
Too much socialism.
Point-in-fact; let’s paint a picture of a world where the Dems get all the socialist programs their hearts so madly (and recklessly) desire.
Can you imagine a glut of doctors and nurses in this country?
Well, under Obamanation, it is exactly what you’ll receive.
Once the programs are in place, medical universities will become clearing houses. They will pipe students through programs like, well…”pate de foie gras” through a goose.
That’s right, folks.
Our esteemed and hallowed halls will become indoctrination mills for up-and-comers from God-only-knows where.
I mean, how do you think they will handle the increased demand that their “give-away-health-care” will place on the society ?
When salt flows free, it ruins the flavor of food.
When a health-care system will provide your every need, we’ll even be expected to eat at the government fast-food houses.
Everything, and I mean literally everything, will be incorporated into the health-care system.
We’ll buy our groceries at hospitals.
Probably our smart cars (imagine just how those mean, old seat-belts affect your health) will be mandated as “USDA-approved as so-so-so GOOD FOR YOU!”.
If your neighbor barks at you because your dog is crapping in his yard – he (your neighbor) will be a candidate for “anger management” school (and, NO, he won’t have an option).
“It’s a mandate for improving our society”, don’t you know.
You’re probably sitting back saying, “Precipii, you’re over the edge on this one” – HELL YES, I stay over the edge.
I promised you when I started this blog that it would be edgy, and I hope I always live up to it (gotta release the talons sometimes to go on a hunger-hunt).
So, how would “plenty” kill a falcon? How does a falcon know when he’s had just about ENOUGH?
Eat too many rats provided from a “system” that gives you anything your heart desires, and even a falcon’s fat gut won’t take flight.
A falcon knows when to quit stuffing his gut with government propagated propagandai.
Can’t get off the ground? Stop eating at the government pig-sty.
This system is promising everything in the world, to anybody dumb enough to believe it.
It’s simply too good to be true, and it is put forth by a bunch of do-gooder Dems who always promise the moon and stars (and deliver nothing but more graft, greed and heart-ache for you and me).
Think “union” here (and all the wonderful, wonderful things those blue-collar bums have done for you and me, lately).
The reason I believe that capitalism will ultimately prove to withstand the maelstrom that is this Obamanomics, or socialist onslaught, or radical agenda (or whatever you want to call this “thing” that is the Obama-rovoltalution) is as obvious as the nose on your face…it is putrefying sin.
It is slothful, it is greedy, it is bloated on too much excess (and oh so too, excessively so).
Do you really believe that I will not plant tomatos again next year?
Or that farmers will re-plant corn after a rough year…or buy new hogs, or head’s of cattle, or sheep?
Life will go on, and so will the process of ex-change.
Next year, we may have the perfect mix of rain and sun, and fertile-fertile soil. If not next year, maybe the year after.
But, it will come again.
Every farmer knows this.
Whether you’re farming for beef, or for grain, or for ‘taters (or how about simply digging silicon up out of the ground) – whatever your racket, I guarantee you that capitalism assures you a plentiful crop once again in the future.
The dems run on running out.
Capitalism runs on faith that we’ll never run out.
It assures us that we will once again walk on the moon.
It assures us there will be brighter days (and no, it is not MY God…it is simply the plan that my God set before me – read your bible – it (capitalism) far, far pre-dates Marx, and Lenin, and Lennon – damned hippies and their sandal-wearing perversions).
And thus, the spirit of capitalist adventure, and of capital reinvestment (in some by-God something that makes sense – more so than a government-run any by-God thing), of the real hope that capitalism assures (with Adonai’s blessing, of course) – it will, once again (like my tomatoes) THRIVE!
Such is life in the agrarian world.
But such is life also, in the mechanized world of production.
It does compute!
You can count on it.
Capitalism will survive this massive onslaught that is (and has been) the Democrats “answer” to what ails us.
That’s really their problem, you know?
They think they know.
They do not.
They think they know our bodies better than we know them ourselves!
And how, you might ask?
They think they are God Almighty!
They’ve been conditioned to think this way.
It is in the spirit of “you can do anything” (reference what teachers and other polly-anna’s will tell ya anymore).
Well, if you can do anything, donkey, strap a rocket to your ass and fly yourself to the moon sans-capital.
Without money, you might make it to El Segundo.
We are tired of their damned shenanigans.
Tired of bills they’ve published, but never read.
Tired of incompetence, and most-of-all, double-dog tired of morons who have been indoctrinated and then turned loose on this social structure and government without an inkling of either good sense, or even (methinks) real ability to do their f***ing jobs.
That is the way of internet education (back in my day, it was related to receiving a doctorate through the mail from some institution with a high-sounding name like “Prince-Town U” or something).
Ah, it is a poor musician who blames his instrument (and God, how I do love the net).
I believe that government has proven itself highly capable of such acts in the past.
Look at what a joke our government has become (and is becoming).
Soon, by God, we will rival even France, or dare I say it? Quebec !
Now, the truth is, I believe there is probably a French underground (just like when Hitler was in charge), and I mean no ill-will toward the Francs. The fact is, I like the fellas (and their gals). Hell, one could make the case that I am part French (and probably, the better part).
But the fact also remains, that in our heart’s and minds, they represent a center of socialist “intellectual” thought, and this is why I pick on them (at them, really – it’s fast becoming a cliche).
Intellectualism can not be bound by some “old-country” thought.
But the fact remains, look at the examples set by others.
Look at the Nordsmen, or the Slavs, or the Ruskies, or the Chinamen for heaven’s sake.
Where on earth has socialism actually worked ?
So, what of abundance?
Well, when the money grows on the government tree, you can bet your bottom dollar (little as it will be worth) that not only will its value be in decline, but the value of everything else will be too.
This is the way of socialism.
Like my tomato plants, liberal application of water causes the plant to rot from the roots up.
This is what happens when kiss-slobber gets all over your roots.
Too much water (and too much groupie-love) will infect the whole body (and probably with more than just feel-good feelings – can you say “razor-blades” ???).
Like a social disease (and that is exactly what socialism is), too much of this “good thing” will cause the entity (you and me) to wither and die, just like my tomatoes (or worse; God, how I hate self-inflicted pain).
We really do not want to be forced to survive such nonsense.
Personally, I’ve simply just had – too much…Obama.
Pharaoh, let my people go.
You and yours, Sir, are simply, obviously, and patently…too, too much.
It is, simply put, time for moderation.
Art is either plagiarism, or revolution.
“China and U.S. Ships Clash in South Sea”
“US Banks Need Billions and Billions More”
“Obama Feels Pressure on Gay Issues”
Oklahoma, Texas and Others Considering Autonomy
Well, above is your plagiarism.
Precipii quotes (or misquotes – all from memory) headlines of the “hundred days”.
Now, Gauguin’s quote is direct.
I always liked Paul Gauguin. His paintings of Island girls were…stimulating (to say the least).
But there was something more to them than an image evocative of lustful interests (although, lust takes many forms – lust for life, lust for money, lust for food).
There is no doubt is work is ethereal.
What I always liked about them was that for me, I had thoughts of paradise.
Everything about them looked so…easy. It was as if there was no strife on these islands, as if it were eden.
Gauguin’s sense of humor (and a hint at the subject with the suspended apples) is illustrated in the link above.
If you haven’t taken note, many of Precipii’s articles have of late been focused on the concept of good and evil.
One could argue that it is all about perspective.
One looks at the paintings, and he (or she) could think of a beautiful place, like eden, and then dream of what life on the other side must be like.
As long as the dream does not become wanderlust, one can still go about one’s life and in it, perhaps, remind oneself that a little bit of Gaugin is all around. Looking for hints of paradise in everyday life.
Goodness then becomes not only a frame of mind, but also something that resides in the heart.
Now the down side of all this is that one might become as the hippies and spend every waking moment seeking paradise – trying to “re” create it here on earth (silly humans, trying to go beyond emulating God and in kind becoming (what the halleucenagenic hippie perceives, anway)…becoming God.
Now we get to the crux of what truly constitutes blasphemy.
Taking the name of God in vain is crossing that threshold and believing oneself to be God.
“God will not hold him guiltless.”
So, there ya go.
Tells me to stay away from halleucenagins and hippies and utopians and socialists and focus more on how to plant and cultivate a golden delicious apple tree.
By the way, were you aware that Eve did not (necessarily) consume an apple? Biblically, it only references as a fruit – no specifics – (could have been a peach on that tree of evil).
Well, moving right along.
Precipii must always take the little moments to englighten…hmmmm.
So, we have a lot of bad news lately.
Reminds me of that song “So you had a bad day” (I would add “Mr. President in there somewhere, but hey, that’s just how we roll).
I suppose it is no joking matter that ships are scraping one another down China way.
Or that Kommiczar Pelosi is appropriating “billions and billions” to the banks (you’d think with all this money they’d be able to build a death star or something and ship all the home loan defaulters “up there” to man the ship).
Oh well, again with the sad sarcasm (I wonder if this, yet, defines the sardonic) ?
Now for this writer, it is the distinction (or lack of ability to distinguish) between sarcasm (good) and the sardonic (bad, bad, bad – fifty licks with a ruler).
Sardonic is when you cross the line.
Sardonic is when SNL depicts Sarah Palin as a back-alley, coathanger abortionist or a guest on the Springer show.
But then SNL has never been known for its good taste.
Essentially, real people on the show can be reduced to the Southpark cartoon kids.
You’ll not find enlightment, but a great deal of nervous laughter.
But isn’t this, really, what we have become?
No more can we distinguish between light-hearted humor and the morose sardonic as all sacrasm today has crossed that line.
Where Guaguin “winks”, Chevy Chase wears a black and darkened hood.
Placing this mask on one’s face, the world becomes a dark and evil place. There is no good in it.
The wrestling match is won.
So here is my “thought for the day” – in spite of the headlines, seek ye the goodness first.
Look about the world in a light-hearted fashion, and find that paradise that already exists (wrought by the true master’s hand).
And try and find a little true sarcasm while you are at it.
It never hurts to laugh at ourselves.
Now, if only the bitter and halleucenagenic hippie could learn to do that.
You listening, Chevy? Senator-elect Franken? Steve Martin? Tina Fey? (oops).
Be nice to see something really funny for a change!
Oh, and thank you Mr. Gauguin – for making this world a little more beautiful.
For more on Gauguin .
When asked recently about how she feels about partisan politics and the fact that no Republicans supported the bailout (no REAL Republicans), Madam Pelosi’s answer was flippant. She basically said “look, the elections were a mandate”. Well, it looks like the world was listening.
It is a real example of just how low the Democrats have sunk. They are now in league with dictators from all around the world.
Where’s the mandate for that?
In blatant disregard for his real impact on American history (and much can, and is, being argued on the point), they blithely compare themselves to Abraham Lincoln.
I know of no one in Lincoln’s day who would have picked up on his policies and moved that propagandist chess piece another square down the board.
Perhaps there were other countries that may have taken note of Lincoln’s leadership and applied the concepts of freedom and liberty in their own society – which is a positive thing.
Nobody could argue it is a good thing when socialist dictators pick up on American policy and use it to their own political gain.
When good Nations rise to new levels as the result of the leadership demonstrated in America, that is a good thing, right?
Well then what can be said when dictators take your rhetoric and “capitalize” on it?
Not a comforting thought.
Hip, hip, hooray for socialist dictators, eh Nancy?
“The guys at Gitmo have rights”.
“We are going to fund abortions in foreign lands”.
“We will provide health care to illegal aliens, a function of their “rights” “.
Whoa, Nellie !
First, it is my understanding that criminals who commit felony offenses forfeit many of their rights, even after having “done their time”. They can not hold elected office. They can not vote.
For those of you (read “liberals”) educated in our very public, very unionized (the womb of collectivism), very socialized (and very liberal) education system – felonies are such crimes as murder, attempted murder and kidnapping. They usually rise far above the level of swiping a grape from the produce counter (although…give a liberal camel an inch of nose under the tent and pretty soon you are sleeping out by the fire).
One would think that high crimes, misdemeanors and treason would add up to the top of the mark.
Actually, I believe that the crime of terror and those who perpetrate such dastardly war crimes as planting IED’s on a roadside that indescrimately kill soldiers and civilians rises far above even treason.
Why then should the GITMO prisoners be afforded “rights” that even our lowly (in comparison) felons do not enjoy?
So what about the abortions?
Touchy subject, but here goes.
Since when is it a God-given and inalienable right to wantonly have relations, get “in a family way” and then kill that unwanted nuissance that gets in the way of all the “fun times” you are having?
I used to say, tongue in cheek, “those soul-less liberals”; I’m not laughing any more.
You can not just adopt this hedonistic attitude and call it a “right”; when you practice your filthy ways, you spread a disease all across our society. When you make me pay for the treatment for your disease, you bring down the standards of all our society.
You ask me to foot the bill for your indiscretions.
You take the attitude that it is somehow my responsibility to raise your children even (“it takes a village”).
You do not have the right to tell me that your actions are my responsibility. The are not.
There is no constitutional, or God-given (inalienable) “right” that says that I have to bear the burden for someone else’s actions.
You use the same logic with those “boys” from GITMO; the world is to blame for creating a situation whereby they must resort to terror.
I did not build the IED. I am not the one launching missiles into Israel.
This is the act of terrorists who take advantage of what the liberals perceive to be “inalienable” rights (as if they know God and what “rights” He dolls out to we mortals).
Your perversions of our Constitution essentially represent a sublime form of Imperialism.
Liberals, by their very nature, practice a form of subjugation that dwarfs even slavery (for it represents an imprisoning of the soul).
It is not the liberals intent to “free Iraq”, but rather, to indoctrinate it into a liberal Western concept of Democracy.
Democracy can take as many forms as flavors of food, and each culture will bring its own unique sensation to the concept.
But the liberal only wants a single flavor – one that represents their true agenda.
You see it in the cavalier attitude of “the anointed one”.
An example in point: some Christians believe that the only way to legitimately prosper in this world is to do so, somehow, through Christ. It is my observation that many non-Christians prosper in this world, and their prosperity is not tied to anything “evil”, but rather, through hard work. In other words, they can prosper legitimately and do so even when offering thanks to a God other than our own.
I think the above scenario represents an attitude that we American NEED to adopt; Judeo-Christianity (while preferred by me) is not the ONLY game in town when it comes to ethics in business.
If you are still with me…the point I’m making here is that liberals seem to think that the only legitimacy in this world necessarily MUST come from a liberal mindset.
I would bet you that these nations we will help fund abortions – that even they have a general mindset that is opposed to abortion (it is the nature of man to want to build nations and armies to protect them through procreation – this is not endemic only to we Christians).
It is a superior attitude to go in to deals with other nations with any other mindset.
Yet the same way that liberals wish to IMPOSE abortion on the American taxpayer, they also wish to export their morality on the rest of the world.
For ages liberals have harped on conservatives and painted them as Imperialists (exporting American values on Viet Nam, Nicaraugua, and Iraq, for example) – yet, what are we seeing here when we stretch the boundaries (not to mention, legitimacy) of our Constitution to include prisoners at Gitmo and heathen societies that wish to offer their unborn up for ghoulish experimentation – what we are seeing is Impreialism at its most extreme – a sublime imposing of imperialism.
They are essentially sneaking it in the back door.
Since we now export abortion to foreign lands, what will stop us from then exporting our “globalized” (as opposed to “nationalized”) health care system?
Why do you think B.O. is wishing to spend the bailout money in the mass manufacture of condoms?
These liberals are so steeped in the base nature, the most primitive nature of man, that they can not see anything else in this world.
They have sold their souls to the age of pornography. They are reduced to nothing more than an orgy.
It is beyond time that we call a spade, a spade.
There is no pussy-footing in this. What we have is TRUE imperialism, and the world will soon recognize it for what it is, and then (as history bears out) rise up against it.
America simply needs to mind its own business FIRST (and as the saying goes in the hills “once you mind your own business, you won’t be minding mine quite so much”).
You ever get one of those shuddering feelings that run up your spine when someone you do not know very well places their hands on you?
We Americans like our personal space. It is indicative of our personal values. We like the fact that we are free and unencumbered, and we do not like people with whom we do not know on a personal and perhaps more so, on an intimate basis, to “lay hands” upon us.
It goes right along with practicing good hygiene and with being respectful toward others.
There are those politicians who like the laying on of hands. They want to reach out and touch us. Thing is, some of us would prefer to choose who it is that touches us, and further who it is we decide to touch.
When someone, especially someone from a position of leadership, decides to, say, put their hands on your shoulders, it is a sign that they somehow feel superior to you.
It is degrading. Like body odor in a confined space, say on an airplane or an elevator, it just “creeps you out”.
I’ve seen a couple of articles this morning that discuss pornography. Now there is a real violation of personal space if I’ve ever seen one. Esepcially since the study defines the primary user of the stuff as being between the ages of 11 and 18.
I guess those guys who practice this violation of personal space want to get the young people indoctrinated to those violations at an early age.
Anytime you are compelled to run and take a shower, I would say that the cause of such feelings represents a true violation of personal space (in this case, it is an affront to the eyes and to the soul – how more personal can one get?).
There are some violations that you simply can not wash off.
Already the left is flexing its muscle and demonstrating to all its insidious nature. It is proving that its main purpose is to drill its way into our lives, and even into our souls.
Putting their hands on us, digging into our space, trying their damndest to convince us that they are our friends and deserving of sharing our personal space is somehow going to benefit us in some way.
Well, you’d better be careful about laying your hands on some of us; some of us have few aversions to responding to such trespasses on our personal sovereignty with some “touchy-feeliness” of our own.
It is time you “leaders” on the left begin showing some respect for others, particularly where personal space is concerned, but more, where our personal lives and values are concerned.
What business is it of yours to take our hard-earned tax dollars and spend it overseas to lay your filthy hands on pure and innocent, unborn children?
What right do you have to lay your hands on the minds of youth by inundating them with your vile pornography and worse, pornographic mindset?
What right have you to lead us?
I remember from the movie “Braveheart” how an English King decided to “lay hands” on the wives of those magnificent Scotsmen.
There was, of course, a reaction.
It is time in this nation that people who claim to be “in charge” begin demonstrating that they in fact have some respect for others.
As the saying goes up in the hills, “you take to petting wolves and you may draw back a stump”.
Respect is such an important thing. If you wish to earn the respect of others, then you must first demonstrate respect especially where our personage is concerned.
It is only good, common sense to be mindful of respect in the utmost degree and especially so if you take to petting those wolves my mountain brethren speak of. About the only thing they respect is their God-ordained ability to run wild, free and unenslaved by the “regulation” of man.
But isn’t this really what it all boils down to? The left is most interested in controlling every aspect of our lives. They want us on a leash, to domesticate us, to subjugate us to their thinking. A part of me believes that they are just naive enough to believe that there can be some good that will come of putting leashes on wolves.
No good will come of that.
So a piece of advice to all those now ascending to their perceived “thrones of power” – keep your hands to youself and most especially off our children.
Consider this scenario.
You are the hiring manager for a company.
You interview candidates for a particular job, and you narrow the choices down to two.
There is a difficulty in the decision-making process, as your company is quite diplomatic and interviews using a team-process where many of the employees with whom the future employee will work are the intitial interviewers and they get to “cast” an opinion for his future employment.
You’ve known for a while that your company is sharply divided into individuals who do all the heavy lifting, and others who do very little that actually passes for real work, but they complain, a lot.
Due to the political structure, you are unable to get rid of the trouble-makers, so, you let things ride.
The company is divided over these last two candidates who have made it through the interviewing process. You’ve looked at their strengths and weaknesses, and there is little that separates the two, save for one chief aspect: one has much more experience, yet the other is popular with many who interviewed him.
You know this is a crucial position, so who do you choose?
In Minnesota, it seems, the candidate will be chosen by the party that is in power (the do-nothings).
The one candidate who legitimately won the election (he was ahead by several hundred votes back when the election was first “over”) has now been “underwhelmed” by Franken who claims to be ahead by 250 votes now.
Look, there has always been a great deal of cynicism in our country where politicians are concerned. I have always tried my damndest to ignore a popular phrase about teachers – “Those who can, do. Those who can’t, teach” – I know for certain that liberal or conservative teacher, I would not be where I am today were it not for their tutilege.
I would not write this column today were it not for them.
Likewise, I would not be able to write this column were it not for politicians.
Had Roosevelt not teamed with Churchill, I might be speaking German or Russian. I know there is value in our political process.
What I fear is that this cynical idea that “all politicians are corrupt” is about to become less cynicism and more a general rule.
If you are unhappy with the outcome of the election, demand a recount and just get appointed.
If you are disenchanted with the prosepect of facing an election, just get a corrupt politician to appoint some yahoo to the seat.
Essentially, ignore any rules.
I am reminded of the line from the Bogey film about not needing any “stinking badges”.
There is a corruption of process taking place in our country that I believe is yielding a corruption of the spirit, and a corruption of our people.
I believe that wild-eyed and arrogant radicals who grew up with a blatant disregard for anything holy (look at the sacrilege on Saturday Night Live – I reference it since it is on Mr. Franken’s resume) or a disregard for anything legal (not trusting “the man”) are essentially taking over the leadership roles.
Stealing them, really.
This should be obvious to any, and I do feel a bit sheepish about even mentioning it (it does not take a genius to see it, and merely stating the obvious is kind of useless).
But maybe we don’t always want to consider the obvious.
Consider this, however: when you hire that employee who has the credentials of a comedian and you put him to work and then later find he is incapable of doing the job, what have you done to your company?
Will you have a job in the future making such glaring mistakes in judgement?
We the people of this nation are the responsible “hiring managers” for those individuals sent to Washington to “mind the till”.
We are sending jokers to do it; jokers who will get there, by the way, but some perversion of the law.
When the confidence in the political system is completely shattered by liars, cheats and frauds who literally “grab” power through corrupt means, we will have nothing but criminals leading the country.
Right now, there is debate as to whether Harry Reid can pull some rabbit out of a hat where this Blago appointment is concerned (so in essence, while trying to do the right thing, it is not clear as to whether even Reid is breaking, or at least severely bending the law).
The observation has been that what we are going through as a nation is some sort of radical change, but stop a moment and look at what we are changing to.
We are becoming a nation where rules do not matter any more.
We will argue over the meaning of the word “is”, and twist it to suit our own needs.
When we do not accept the outcome of an election, we will bend the rules on a recount to change the outcome.
We will bring suit in courts.
Evil works this way. Evil will bend reality to suit its needs.
When Satan was tempting our Lord and Savior, he used the things of this world to try and influence Jesus; but Christ was able to see through this smoke and mirrors to an alternate, and in fact “true” reality that was beyond what the devil offered.
He was able to recognize a victory through this manufactured version of reality – He was able to see the truth through the lies of Satan.
It may be a bit harsh to compare Obama, Blago, Franken (and others) to the devil himself, but consider this alternate that they offer, layed out here before us.
There are questions surrounding all. Questions about their past affiliation, questions about their abilities to lead, questions about whether they really represent the “right stuff”, questions about how they got where they are today.
It is very difficult for this “hiring manager” to have any confidence in the system any more, and I believe that this may very well be one of their true objectives.
If they really are interested in a socialist economic system (which it seems they are) and if they are interested in radical change (which they say they are), then is it really too much a stretch to consider that they will then operate without any regard for rules?
As such, we become a nation rooted in anarchy, in blatant disregard for anything holy (like Jermiah Wright), or in anything legal (like this whole Blago/Rezco/Burris quagmire).
Nothing will matter beyond this. When our leaders bend and break rules, what are we then left with?
Like the 60’s and 70’s looting and riots will be the new rule of the day. People will just do what the hell ever they want without regard to any rules or laws.
Ask youself, honestly: is this not the true objective of radicalism? Remember the radical underground of the 60’s. It was their mission to wreak havoc on decent society. They perverted properity into what they percieved as evil (they would much rather have remained naked and high all the time).
It does not yield peace; it yields destruction.
Fundamentally, everyone knows we are at a crossroads.
It is my assertion that if we are to “come out the other side” with anything that approaches civilization, we will have to keep a true accounting of how it is we once did business when things were good for our nation.
The fact is, Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush and now Obama were and are born of a nation of both men, and of rules. It is true that men will follow their nature, but good men have choices; good men must choose a righteous, and not a riotous, path.
Like Christ, during His tribulation, He could have chosen that fantasy land drawn by the devil, but He chose the reality of righteousness.
We have to make hard choices here today, our leaders, and our selves; we must ask if we really want to choose the path of radical rule-breaking and base lawlessness.
Nothing about that resembles even remotely the nobility of the Greek Nation-State; nothing resembles the logic of a civil and stable nation; in point-of-fact, it only resembles some drunken rabble in a bar fight.
I for one do not want to be in a position to sweep that mess off my front lawn.
Rule-breaking and radical politics will only lead to a degradation of our society that may drive us to the point of living like base and unprincipled beasts.
When we can no longer trust our leaders, what started as cynicism, I believe, will turn ultimately to out-and-out rejection of process, of law, and of institution.
I deeply fear that the backlash will be horrific.
We are unravelling, and I believe it is time to re-visit our constitution, to revisit our rules, and do our dead-level damndest to get back to the great society that we once were. Easy said.
We do that, I believe, by regaining respect for the law, and convincing our fellow man to abandon this path of lawless destruction.
It will be up to each and every one of us to demonstrate what “the high road” resembles.
May God walk with us all in our quest to challenge the lawless radicals, and again restore our nation to a proud and honorable stature.
I believe we owe at least that to ourselves, but then more, to our children.
I also believe that we are charged with upholding what those who came before us fought and died for; we must, on all counts, refrain from our “nation of men”, free-wheeling mentality, and get back to a nation of men who consider the spirit of the law, but fight like hell to maintain its hallowed principles that when applied yield an ordered, structured and peaceful life.
