With today’s events, I can’t help but reflect on righteousness.
I spent the morning going through the motions with certain provider of operating systems (who will go un-named) trying to find a utility to help my church. This little piece of software basically checks your system against available updates and let’s you decide what to download and install.
Think it as an opportunity to ‘bolster’ your defenses.
Kind of like the fence that Congress is supposed to be building for us along our Southern border.
I must say, after an hour on the phone and then being transferred to this particular company’s division in Canada, I began to feel as though they were not that interested in helping me better use their product.
Kind of how I feel about Congress when it comes to whether they are really interested in defending our Nation (not to mention its allies).
It seems that all you get is shuck and jive anymore.
I know I said I’d stay away from the 60’s, but didn’t they teach us that we are doomed if we forget the past? So here I am again, revisiting a decade I am so happy to have in my rear-view mirror (or at least, I thought it was).
It is hard to stay out of that decade when the libs are talking about a mantra for their convention that I’ve heard will go something like this “recreate 68, recreate 68″.
Oh my. I just wish the hippies would come down from the drugs for just a moment…too bad they don’t make a syringe that can extract this drug-induced lunacy.
In the 60’s we had hawks and doves in Congress.
The hawks wanted to win the war.
The doves, well, they wanted to get stoned and ignore that there is a great, big world out there (groovy, man).
The world is not always full of people interested in a group hug.
There is so much talk right now that leads me to believe the demonrats are all about kissing and making up with our enemies.
You see it in the news. Some are saying that Iran does not pose the threat that has been suggested.
I don’t know if you caught it, but someone needs to ask Israel what they think about that.
You see, they just got a surprise attack over the past weekend, and it would seem the missiles had an Iranian connection (by manufacture, ownership or launch – what’s the diff when they are falling on YOUR head).
Try and keep in mind that from this writer’s perspective, Israel is a perfect example for us; they have been living under a constant state of attack since their nation was formed. We are only now tasting what that is like, post- Trade Center terror.
I don’t think I’m buying into this whole “kinder, gentler Iran” that seems to be afoot in the media (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6). They still seem pretty dangerous to me (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9).
Let’s not pretend that things are just rosy with our former Cold War ‘buds’ – China and Russia (1, 2, 3 ) either.
So, how does all this tie in to a phone call for customer support?
Well, in a word, as a tax-paying citizen of a country I care something about (it is my home, you know)…I’d like to see a little support from our elected officials and not have to deal with the kind of business Israel endures.
I’m tired of hearing about them on their junkets to Syria. Tired of them going on vacation rather than voting on a bill that helps protect us from the kind of bombardment Israel is now under; tired as hell of getting shifty treatment from a Congress that acts like a certain sluffware icon when it comes to customer service – just shifting me around all over the place.
I feel as though all I’m seeing of late is shifty characters. I have had enough shiftiness (beggin’ your pardon, “Mr. Slick” – “they call him ‘meller yeller’ “).
Give me someone with some stability and backbone who understands that our enemies really do want to see us brought down like a computer operating system that just can’t seem to stay up and running. The OPEC President just said this morning that he wants to CUT production of oil (now at whom do you think that strategy is aimed? Venezuela ? Give me a break!).
It is time that Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton begin standing up letting us know what they are doing besides kissing the ass of the enemy – what are they doing, in earnest, to protect this Nation they all claim they are so adept at commanding.
They need to get their “communal” heads out of their hippie asses and start talking about drilling for oil right here at home; they need to tell us what they will do to send a signal to the world that we are strong and that we are not going to lay down and be steam-rolled.
From my perspective, all they are doing is transferring us to somebody else who doesn’t know what they are talking about either. When the hell is all this “change” they are talking about going to yield something that takes on real leadership quality (of the kind, by the way, George Bush has shown by sticking to our guns and our commitments in this current war and to our current friends and allies)!
Y’all can keep on keepin’ on where “change” in the global weather is concerned (radical change in weather is a typhoon, isn’t it? I believe that is just another name for “blow-hard”).
As for this ol’ boy, I’m going to keep looking for a day when we no longer have to face the threat of tyrants…and until that day, I’ll take advice from the bible and as a strong man, arm myself.
